CalmSplit is not a law firm
CalmSplit is a self-help technology platform. We provide tools, templates and plain-English guidance so you can organise your divorce paperwork, share information with your spouse, and track HMCTS milestones. We do not provide legal advice and we are not regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. Where legal judgment matters, we strongly recommend obtaining independent legal advice from an SRA-regulated solicitor.
CalmSplit does not grant your divorce
The legal divorce still requires court orders. His Majesty's Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS) issues the divorce application, the conditional order, and the final order. Our job is to help you prepare and manage the process.
Financial claims are separate
A divorce alone does not resolve financial claims between spouses. A private financial agreement is not automatically enforceable - it usually needs to be incorporated into a court-approved consent order.
England & Wales only
CalmSplit is designed for people whose divorce falls within the jurisdiction of England and Wales. It is not suitable for civil-partnership dissolution, judicial separation, annulment, or divorces governed by another country's law.
Not suitable for
- Emergencies or urgent injunctions.
- Domestic abuse cases where safe participation online is a concern.
- Contested divorce, complex trust or business situations, or overseas disputes.
- Cases involving concerns about mental capacity or coercion.
Independent legal advice
Each spouse may want independent legal advice. Where one party is unrepresented and appears disadvantaged, CalmSplit will strongly recommend a solicitor before any binding step.
